The Benefits of Ductless Heating

Winter is here, and for some of us that means finding a new home heating system. While it can be tempting to just get another heating system just like the one you had, you may be able to find a system that fits your needs much better. Ductless heating, for example, has quite a few advantages to offer. Let’s take a closer look at ductless heating systems, and the benefits that you can garner from installing one.

How Ductless Heating Works

A ductless heating system is a heat pump that doesn’t use ducts. Instead, it uses a series of individual air handlers to circulate air throughout the home. One air handler is installed in each room, with up to 4 being connected to a single outside unit. Each air handler is equipped with its own thermostat, which allows it to operate independently from the rest of the system. Like all heat pumps, a ductless heat pump evaporates refrigerant to absorb heat and condenses it to release heat. It can act as either a heating or air conditioning system, depending on the direction that its refrigerant flows through the system.

The Advantages of Ductless Heating

One of the major advantages of ductless heating is that it does not have to burn any kind of fuel in order to generate heat. This automatically makes it more energy efficient than traditional heating systems. By using multiple thermostats, the ductless heating system also offers a level of granular control that most other heating systems cannot hope to match. With ductless heating, you can set the ideal temperature for your room without affecting the rest of the house. No more fighting over the thermostat!
